When Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen approached Fender to create a guitar that he could use in concert that would make his life easier on stage by not having to switch between a six-string and 12-string instrument, the Fender Custom Shop rose to the occasion.
I worked directly with Troy and Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Paul Waller on documenting the entire process of his epic double-necked Jazzmaster, the likes of which had never been seen before.
After building a video team, I led the filming of the entire build process and even were on-hand when Paul offered Troy the finished product at the QOTSA studio in Burbank, Calif.
